Jr NTR RRR, The Kashmir Files doesn’t make the Oscar 2023

SS Rajamouli’s RRR opened in theatres on March 25 and went on to emerge as a blockbuster at the box office. It received tremendous critical acclaim, with critics lauding its technical brilliance and engaging screenplay. Many even demanded that it be selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2023. This, however, did not happen as that honor went to Chhello Show, a Gujarati movie. Rajamouli fans are, unsurprisingly, not happy about the fact that his magnum opus failed to make the cut. RRR is a period drama, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan.

RRR in Oscar Race

The Gujarati film is said to be partly an autobiographical drama that follows nine-year-old boy Samay, whose life turns upside down after watching his first movie. Nalin is known for his visually striking body of work in films like ‘Samsara’, ‘Valley of Flowers’ and ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’.

Earlier, when Anupam Kher was asked to comment on Anurag Kashyap’s comment that he hopes The Kashmir Files is not picked as India’s entry at the Oscars, Kher first refused to comment and then said, “Kaun hai woh, kaun hai Anurag Kashyap?” sarcastically as he added that this is what the media wanted to listen.

‘Last Film Show’, comes as a dark horse in this race for Oscar glory, especially at a time when Rajamouli’s RRR was tipped to be a worthy competitor not just in the Best Foreign Film category, but even a frontrunner in the Best Film and Best Director categories. The film which took the world by storm with a smashing Rs 200 crore debut and a lifetime collection of over Rs 1100 crore, was expected to help the country strike gold at the Oscars.

Fans are tweeting about SS Rajamouli’s RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, with the hashtag ‘RRR for Oscars’. While stating that the film should be selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars next year, some are making their case by saying it was not only a pan-India hit, but was also praised in the West, even by Hollywood filmmakers.

Dhanush is on a Success streak for quite some time now with movies like “Thiruchitrambalam” which on day 6 earned more than “₹100 crores” and from movies like Ranjhana to Atrangi Re, he came a long way in Bollywood as well.
Dhanush next anticipated movie “Naane Varuvean” directed by none other than his brother Selvaraghavan. “Naane Varuven” teaser just landed on the internet on 15th September 2022.

Naane Varuven Story and Overview

“Naane Varuven”

After portraying a food truck driver in his previous romantic-comedy “Thiruchitrambalam”, Dhanush showcases a stunning and most unexpected change in his new psychological action thriller “Naane Varuven” by playing both a protagonist and an antagonist. The actor will play both Elli AvrRam and Induja as lead pairs.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is a music composer and is well known for giving his best when we talk about Dhanush and Selvaraghavan. And in the trailer, it’s pretty clear with the tuning and all the background music makes the teaser repeat worthy.

The best thing about this movie is that Selvaraghavan is also in this movie as a hunter as already shown in the trailer.
This movie is shot in deep forest areas and mountains near Ooty. Yogi babu as a supporting role and Om Prakash and team camera work and editing are things to watch out for in movie lovers.
Naane Varuven is the most awaited movie because the story is written by none other than Dhanush and directed by Selvaraghavan and by the looks of it the movie is going to be a gripping Psycho thriller.

The sound the graphics the angels, the deep forest scenes, and the music all add up to the hype for this movie Dhanush. Yuvan is ruling with his background. We see Selvaraghavan as a little younger Dhanush and more tribal and aggressive. Meanwhile, Dhanush with his long hair and aggressive psycho-killer looks and other short-haired sophisticated but goofy looks is also Nailing the character. It’s sure going to be one of the best movies of Dhanush-Selvaraghavan.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Review – STR acting saves the film

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a film written by B Jeyamohan, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, and produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner Vels Film International. It stars Atman Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani in the lead roles while Radhika Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav, and others play supporting roles. The music is composed by AR Rahman and the cinematography is done by Siddhartha Nuni.

Muthuveeran (Simbu) is a teenager who has passed his public exams. Circumstances force him to work in a thorny forest, and due to an accident, the forest catches fire resulting in the owner of the land and Muthu getting into a tiff. Muthu’s mother asks him to leave for Bombay where he starts working in a parotta shop. Soon he comes into contact with the underworld of Mumbai which changes his life forever. The film deals with this journey as its main plot.

Critic’s Rating: 3.5/5

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is an extension of one of the writer Jeyamohan’s short stories, and the initial portions of VTK feel exactly like that. Be it the conversations between characters, the slang, or the geography, everything looks authentic and adds something to the story. As the film moves to Bombay, it slowly starts to become a little artificial. It concentrates on Muthu becoming a formidable gangster but we’re not shown why he is formidable.

Overall, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a technically well-made film that shows us another dimension of Simbu the actor, and AR Rahman the composer. Simbu is as invisible in VTK as Gautham Menon. This is a welcome departure for the filmmaker who has often come under fire for making the same films again. Gautham too has tried doing something different this time — really! There are a few long shots that simply didn’t work for me. But my favorite shot is when Muthu goes to a textile shop where he meets Pallavi (Siddhi Idnani, in a badly-acted and bad-written romance) for the first time.

We see them having a chat until cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni turns the camera away — it’s a reflection in a mirror. Gautham does this again in a later scene for the opposite effect, as if to shut Muthu’s advances.

Jacqueline Fernandez seeks to postpone questioning in extortion case

Jacqueline Fernandez, who had been summoned in connection with the Rs 200 crore extortion case against ‘conman’ Sukesh Chandrashekhar, has sought to postpone her questioning. Jacqueline Fernandez has requested the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police to postpone her questioning on Monday, pointing out that she has some pre-scheduled shoots, the police said.

Bollywood Actor Jacqueline had been summoned in connection with the Rs 200 crore extortion case filed against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and this is the second time that Jacqueline has requested the investigation team to postpone it citing prior commitments, officers said. Sukesh had allegedly extorted Rs 200 crore from the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Singh.

A senior officer said Jacqueline has sent an email and requested them to allow her to be present before the officers at another time as she has some pre-scheduled shoots. “We will issue a fresh summons to Jacqueline in the coming days, asking her to join the probe,” the officer said.

Earlier Jacqueline named Nora Fatehi in response to ED, Norah Fatehi was also conned by main accused Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the Rs 200 crore extortion case.

ED, in its supplementary charge sheet, claimed Jacqueline admitted that Sukesh gave Rs 15 lakh in cash to writer Advaita Kala for a script she had written for the actor. This contradicts Jacqueline’s earlier statement to the investigating agency that she gave only chocolates and flowers to Kala. According to the charge sheet, Kala, an award-winning screenwriter, and novelist told the ED that she was approached by Jacqueline in 2021 to write a script for a web series being produced by her.

The investigation conducted so far has revealed that the accused, Jacqueline Fernendez, is knowingly directly and indirectly involved in the process and activity connected with the proceeds of crime and acquired, possessed and used part proceeds of crime by way of receiving valuable gifts and huge amounts for herself and her family members in India and abroad and thereby committed an offence of money laundering under section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 which is punishable under section 4 of the Prevention of Monev Laundering Act, 2002

Enforcement Directorate

Jacqueline Fernandez is being called to testify as a witness by the ED. She has duly recorded her statements and in future will also be completely cooperating with the agency in the investigations.
