Former Tata Sons Chairman, Cyrus Mistry born on July 4 1968 died on September 4, 2022, in a road accident in Mumbai. Mistry served as the 16th chairman of Tata Group and the second to not bear a Tata surname. Mistry was traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car when the accident happened, a police official said.
The accident took place around 3.15 pm, when Mistry was travelling to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. The accident took place on a bridge over the Surya river. It seems an accident. There were three other persons travelling with him, including the car driver. One more person lost their life while two suffered injuries and have been shifted to a hospital in Gujarat.
The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.

There were four passengers in the car. While Cyrus Mistry and another co-passenger identified as Jahangir Dinshaw Pandole did not survive, two others – Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole – survived.

54-year-old Cyrus Mistry was killed after his Mercedes car hit a divider on a bridge over the Surya river in Palghar district of Maharashtra. Mistry was on his way back to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. One other person reportedly lost their life in the accident while two other passengers suffered injuries.
In mid-2012, he was chosen by a selection panel to head the Tata Group and took charge in December of the same year. In October 2016, the board of Tata Group’s holding company, Tata Sons, voted to remove Mistry from the post of chairman after offering him an opportunity to resign voluntarily.
