DMK MP T R Baalu writes letter to party MPs aiming to remove TN Governor

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader and Lok Sabha MP representing Sriperumbudur constituency near Chennai T R Baalu on Tuesday wrote a letter to ‘all the like-minded MPs’ urging them to back a proposal seeking removal of the Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi. “The proposal is to be addressed to President Droupadi Murmu following the gathering of MPs at the Anna Arivalaiyam headquarters and signing of MPs,” the letter stated.

“Members of Parliament belonging to DMK and like-minded political parties are requested to kindly visit Anna Arivalaiyam Headquarters to read and sign in a memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble President of India, pertaining to the immediate withdrawal of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.

People of Tamil Nadu had witnessed clashes between the DMK party leaders and Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi earlier too. In April, DMK Party leaders registered protests against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi for not sending the NEET Exemption Bill to the President after being passed twice in the state Assembly. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and its allies boycotted a get-together party called by the Governor on the occasion of Tamil New Year day.

Earlier, RN Ravi expressed serious concern over the delay of four days in handing over the Coimbatore blast case to NIA and the possible destruction of crucial evidence in a high-profile terror plot.

Tamil Nadu Government Denies permission for RSS Rally

RSS planned to Conduct in Tamil Nadu over 50 places in Tamil Nadu on October 2nd, 2022 Gandhi Jayanthi. Tamil Nadu Police department immediately rejected the permission for the Rally. Tamil Nadu Police Department instructed several norms and rules to follow during the rally and dismissed the plea.

The members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had moved the Madras High Court seeking permission to conduct a procession (Route March) wearing their uniform and led by a musical band on 2nd October 2022 and conduct a public meeting after that.

The bench of Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan directed the authorities to grant permission before the 28th of September. The exact order is awaited on 28th September.

VCK Chief Thirumavalavan invited all other parties for a Social rally on the same day. Major parties joined hands with Thirumavalavan. On the 29th of September, The Tamil Nadu government Canceled all Political gatherings and rallies in Tamil Nadu on 2nd October.

Tamil Nadu Cabinet approves ordinance to ban online gambling in the state

The development comes after the Supreme Court of India issued notice on 10 September on a petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the Madras High Court’s judgment that had struck down the state’s ban on online gambling such as rummy and poker on cyberspace with stakes.

Earlier, The Government of Tamil Nadu had moved the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court’s order that struck down the Tamil Nadu Gaming and Police Laws (Amendment) Act of 2021 that banned the playing of games such as rummy and poker on cyberspace with stakes. However, the HC had said that there was nothing to prevent the State from enacting a new law to regulate these games.

The Supreme Court Bench led by Justice Aniruddha Bose had sought a response from gaming firms such as Junglee Games, Play Games24x7, and the Head Digital Works and industry body All India Gaming Federation on the Tamil Nadu government’s appeal seeking restoration of the ban.

On 10 June 2022 Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu announced that a committee will be formed to analyze the after-effects of Online Gambling games.

Chief Minister MK Stalin met PM Narendra Modi

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating Chennai Chess Olympiad 2022. Prime Minister appreciated the grand manner in which Tamil Nadu hosted the event and conveyed that it was a proud moment for India.

Earlier on the Same day, MK Stalin met the newly elected President of India Droupadi Murmu, and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and conveyed his wishes to them.

During his nearly 20-minute meeting with Modi, Stalin learned to have raised issues related to the Cauvery river, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the Mekadatu dam, and the National Education Policy (NEP).

No memorandum regarding the above-mentioned demands was released by the state government officials in New Delhi after Stalin’s meeting with the Prime Minister. However, earlier, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister – who arrived in the national capital during the early hours of Wednesday – told media persons at the Tamil Nadu House prior to meeting the Prime Minister that he would raise the issues related to the state with him.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin also said that due to unavoidable circumstances, he could not attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President and Vice President, therefore he had sought time to meet them and was granted an appointment.

Chief Minister MK Stalin Hoists the National Flag at State Secretariat

On the 76th Independence Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin hoisted the National Flag at the state Secretariat in Chennai and addressed the audience. The chief minister also presented numerous awards to leaders, civilians, police officials, and others under various categories during the ceremony.

Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in the state, Tamil Nadu Police beefed up security in all districts on Monday. Heavy police deployment was seen at Chennai MGR Central Railway Station, Chennai International Airport, Metro stations, Medical college hospitals, and special security enhancement was in place at the Koodankulam Nuclear power plant.

Meanwhile, the Greater Chennai Police have also announced traffic diversions on August 15. According to the release by the city police, the traffic diversions will be in place from 6 a.m. till the end of the celebrations. The stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Labour statue up to RBI Subway North on Rajaji Salai and Flag Staff Road will be closed for all vehicular traffic except for those carrying passes.

Speaking about beefed-up security in the state, a senior officer with the police headquarters, said, “There are three reasons for this unprecedented security. One is a routine for the Independence Day celebrations. However, certain Islamic international groups were plotting some mischief and we busted it with the arrest of a 24-year-old engineer recently. Third, the Sri Lankan angle and possibilities of some miscreants creating trouble to grab attention.”

The senior officer further said that the department was acting specifically following intelligence inputs from central agencies.

‘Thagaisal Thamizhar’ award to the veteran Communist leader and freedom fighter R Nallakannu. The award is presented to distinguished people, who contributed significantly to the welfare of the state of Tamil Nadu and Tamils. The award carries a cash prize of ’10 lakh and a citation. Nallakannu after receiving the cash prize along with 5000/- returned the entire amount to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

BJP Cadres attacked Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiyagarajan’s car

Members of BJP Tamilnadu threw slippers on Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiyaga Raja after paying last respect to Indian Army Soldier Lakshmanan in Madurai.

On Thursday, two terrorists carried out a suicide attack on an Indian Army company operating base. Though both terrorists were neutralized in operation, three Indian army soldiers made the supreme sacrifice and three soldiers were left injured. Subedar Rajendra Prasad from Rajasthan, Rifleman Manoj Kumar from Haryana, and Rifleman Lakshmanan D from Tamil Nadu are the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. 

From the field information, BJP members wanted to pay the last respect before others on behalf of the BJP but were stopped. Tamil Nadu Government official finance minister PTR allowed paying respect this incident agitated the BJP members and threw slippers on ministers Car by chanting “Bharat Matha Ki Jai”. Around 5 members attacked after the incident.

With a few more video footage, DMK members claim it’s an apparent plotted incident to defame the finance minister whos voicing against Union government on GST.

Day Before the event Minister visited nine homes and gave away five smartphones and four hearing aids to differently-abled people including the visually and hearing impaired in wards 22, 57 and 58.
